The Hayley Kiyoko ‘Girls Like Girls’ vinyl album design contains a lot of components I designed, save the front and back covers. The front and back covers were already established when I was brought onto the project, but I was encouraged to use textures and colors from both to keep the continuity.
I designed the gatefold using a still from the movie, trying to tell the main characters’ stories as you interact with the vinyl.
The lyric insert was laid out by me, using textures from the cover and the gatefold. The text is reminiscent of a diary entry with the hand written font, and I also drew the doodles that accompany it.
On the reverse of the lyric insert, the poster shows a still of the main characters from the movie.
The inner sleeve pulled inspiration from the water splashes on the concrete from the back cover. It also contains the full list of song credits and thank you letter from Hayley herself.
The disc stickers were simpler, each color corresponds with the color of vinyl variant, and the black features a clipped image of the water seen on the front cover.
